Saranda police have taken 38 people in for questioning in connection with the murder of 20-year-old French national Miguel Mendez in the early hours of this morning at the “Principotes” venue in Ksamil.

Sources say more people are expected to be arrested in addition to 29-year-old Sokrat Vata. Two Turkish nationals who helped him flee are also expected to be arrested, along with others.
Moisid Matushaj, 24, a resident of Gjirokastër who serves as an Assistant Crime Investigation Specialist at the Gjirokastër Local Border Directorate, has been detained on suspicion of helping 29-year-old Sokrat Vata, the man responsible for the murder of the 20-year-old French national in Ksamil today.
Police investigations have found that Matushaj worked as a bodyguard for the “Elite Security” company alongside Sokrat Vata at the “Principote” venue and is suspected of helping him flee the scene.
Police are also investigating the role of the Turkish couple who were driving the vehicle in which the perpetrator was hiding, as they suspect that Sokrat Vata also worked as a bodyguard for the Turkish national.
Meanwhile, Bekim Bulica, 36, has also been declared wanted. Investigations indicate that he was at the scene and later fled to Tirana to evade the investigation.
