The Special Prosecution Office has asked the Basic Court in Pristina to order pre-trial detention for Igor Marković, who was arrested in Zvečan on Sunday on suspicion of participating in the violent attacks against KFOR personnel and Kosovo Police officers during the 2023 unrest.

The arrest was carried out as part of a police operation conducted in Zvečan by investigators from the Directorate for the Investigation of Organized Crime and Serious Crimes, the Special Prosecution Office announced.
Immediately after he was detained, the prosecution submitted a request to the Basic Court in Pristina for him to be remanded in custody.
Marković is suspected of involvement in criminal acts related to the violent clashes in the north of the country in 2023, during which KFOR personnel and Kosovo Police officers were attacked.
The Special Prosecution Office announced that legal proceedings against the suspect are continuing following his arrest.
In its statement, the Special Prosecution Office also released official footage of the operation and the moment Igor Marković was arrested.
The Basic Court in Pristina is expected to rule on the request for pre-trial detention. Until a final court decision is issued, the suspect is presumed innocent.
