The prime minister’s resignation remains the participants’ main demand. The chants “Rama, resign!” and “The homeland is not for sale!” have become recurring messages during the daily protests.

During the 78th protest, the speeches concluded with the call “More tomorrow,” before citizens began marching along Tirana’s boulevards.

The rally was also joined by Albanians who had come from the diaspora and have been taking part in the protests in the capital for several days.

Today’s protest comes after more than two months of daily resistance. At recent rallies, citizens have said that the protests will continue until their political demands are met.

Protesters are expected to march along Tirana’s main thoroughfares and then return to the front of the Prime Minister’s Office. The removal of the government and political change remain at the heart of the protest.

Anti-government rallies have been taking place for weeks, while the involvement of the diaspora has in recent days become one of the main features of the protests in Tirana.
