Former Vlora Court Chief Judge Skënder Haluci died unexpectedly this morning at the age of 64. Haluci died in the mountains of Tropoja, where he was on holiday with his family.

According to preliminary information, Haluci told his family in the morning that he was feeling unwell. A few minutes later, he was found dead.
The cause of death has yet to be officially determined, while a forensic examination is expected to provide details about the circumstances of the incident.
Haluci served as a judge at the Vlora Court and headed the court from 2011 to 2014. In 2020, he was dismissed from office as part of the vetting process.
His name was linked to one of the most high-profile events of the communist era. In 1983, Haluci was arrested and initially sentenced to death on charges of involvement in an alleged assassination attempt against Ramiz Alia.
His sentence was later commuted to 25 years in prison.
Haluci denied involvement in the assassination attempt and said over the years that he had escaped execution by firing squad because of the situation that arose in Has and Tropoja following the executions of several people.
