Police Record 1,322 Traffic Violations in Two Days, 32 People Detained

During routine checks conducted on August 10 and 11, 2026, on roads across the country, police officers from the internal affairs sectors recorded a total of 1,322 traffic violations, the Macedonian Interior Ministry announced. Payment orders were issued in all cases, while 400 of the violations involved exceeding the speed limit.

During the same period, police detained 32 people. Of these, three were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, 15 for driving without a license, and one for violating a previously imposed driving ban. A total of 13 vehicles were also seized under Article 300-b of the Criminal Code.

Statistical data on police activities show that 302 cases of illegal parking were also recorded. Meanwhile, 16 penalties were issued for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Under the Law on Road Traffic Safety, 106 motorcyclists were penalized for failing to wear protective helmets. Measures were also taken against 67 road users who had not worn seat belts.

Under the Law on Vehicles, eight unregistered vehicles and two others with technical defects were taken off the road. In addition, five drivers were penalized for failing to comply with the requirements governing the tinting of vehicle windows with film, the Interior Ministry said.

The ministry announced that road checks will continue in the coming days, urging all road users to comply with traffic rules and regulations so that they can jointly contribute to improving road safety.
