Although firefighters risked their lives for hours to protect the residents and bring the situation under control, it has been learned that the 73-year-old was released today, three days after his arrest. He is also reported to have returned to his home last night.
“This citizen is suspected of having started a fire near his home on 08.08.2026 to burn a quantity of grass, but the flames got out of control and, due to the wind, spread toward Mount Kruja, endangering populated areas,” Kruja Police announced three days ago.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday morning, the Ministry of Defense shared details about the wildfire situation facing the country, reporting that 25 active fires had been recorded over the past 24 hours, most of which had been extinguished.
The ministry said that five fires remained active, while the Kruja area was being monitored. It was also reported that the fire continued to spread in the Abaze neighborhood, but posed no danger to populated areas.
