Halil Geci has commented on recent developments at the main bridge over the Ibar River in Mitrovica. KFOR has begun the “gradual transition of its permanent presence” in the area, while the Kosovo Police are assuming responsibility for the bridge’s security.

In his response, Geci took aim at the opposition and various political figures over their previous positions on the issue. According to him, the same people who once opposed interventions by the Kosovo government are now seeking KFOR’s help.
Referring to previous political clashes over the bridge, he described the alleged shift in positions with the words: “Back then: ‘Push the wire!’ Today: ‘Call KFOR!’” “Bota sot” reports.

From the call to “push the wire, if you dare,” they have now moved on to “let’s complain to KFOR”!
According to Geci, those who previously demanded that Kurti not touch the “border” on the bridge—together with the opposition and the former bridge guards, also known as the Serb List, who had turned the bridge into a kind of border—have now changed their position.
He recalled that at the time, they challenged Kurti with the words: “Push the wire and cross to the other side, if you dare!”
Today, however, according to him, “they are complaining to KFOR.”
Geci sarcastically noted that the roles have changed very quickly: yesterday, the state was told “don’t touch it,” while today, complaints are being directed to KFOR.
He asked where the opposition would turn to complain.
According to him, perhaps they are waiting for Hashim to be released. If Hashim is not released and there are no other doors left, Geci sarcastically suggested trying “Lirim Gashi’s Hashim,” in the hope that he might find them another door where they could lodge their complaints.
He said that when a barrier falls in politics, many of the displays of “bravery” made from behind it fall as well.
Geci also mentioned Dada Raza, Dada Lume and Dada Rrushe, who, according to him, once told Kurti: “You do not dare even look at the north through binoculars!” while now they “have buried their ears in wool” and are eating “përshesh.”
In conclusion, he summed up his mockery with the phrases: back then, “Push the wire!” and today, “Call KFOR!” According to Geci, that is enough to demonstrate the political “bravery” of those who shouted from behind the wire yesterday but are seeking protection beyond it today.
