The Government of North Macedonia has approved the First Final Priority List of public investment projects, which includes the reconstruction of the Skopje-Kičevo railway, part of Corridor 8.

Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Kaltrina Zekolli Shaqiri said the decision represents a significant step toward modernizing the railway network and strengthening North Macedonia’s connections with countries in the region and Europe.
According to Zekolli Shaqiri, the project is of strategic importance to the country and represents a direct investment in improving railway infrastructure, strengthening domestic connectivity, and integrating North Macedonia into regional and European transport networks.
She emphasized that Corridor 8 should not be viewed merely as a railway line, but as a strategic artery connecting the country with the region and Europe.
The reconstruction of the Skopje-Kičevo section is expected to deliver more modern infrastructure and create conditions for more efficient transport.
Zekolli Shaqiri also announced that the Ministry of Transport and Communications will continue investing in projects aimed at improving infrastructure and creating new opportunities for the country’s development.
