Trees brought down by the severe weather that struck Skopje will be put to a new use, with some of them being used to create a motor skills park on Vodno. The news was announced by the Mayor of the City of Skopje, Orce Gjorgjievski.

According to him, the work is aimed not only at clearing up and repairing the damage caused by the storm, but also at turning the situation into a valuable opportunity for residents. The healthy trunks will be processed to create the park’s natural features, where visitors can develop balance, coordination, agility, precision and physical fitness.
The park will serve children, young people and adults, offering a space for recreation, physical exercise and socializing outdoors.
Gjorgjievski also announced that the planting of new saplings has begun in the areas where trees were brought down. Meanwhile, a large-scale autumn campaign to reforest the city is expected to take place in the second half of September.
The mayor recalled that work had previously begun on Vodno to improve the trails and reconstruct the urban amenities. He added that the Mountain Rescue Service is now active on Vodno and in Matka and is ready to respond in mountainous terrain and conditions.
“Vodno is the heart and green lungs of Skopje. We are preserving, rebuilding and improving it responsibly, with facilities that will serve all generations,” Gjorgjievski said.
