Police have prevented a possible criminal incident in Saranda following the completion of an operation code-named “Silencer.”

The intervention was carried out based on intelligence obtained through operational channels and led to the arrest of five people.
Two of those arrested were caught in the act near a bar in the village of Gjashtë, in an unlit area.
According to the investigation, they had taken the firearms out of the vehicle and were lying in wait.
Those arrested are:
S. M., 32, a resident of Tirana;
A. K., 26, a resident of Kavaja;
V. H., 20, a resident of Kavaja;
V. P., 31, a resident of Tirana;
F. B., 21, a resident of Kavaja.
During the operation, two pistols, live ammunition, a silencer and two vehicles were seized.

Investigators preliminarily suspect that the individuals had traveled to Saranda with the intention of committing a murder. S. M. and A. K. are accused of criminal offenses related to the unlawful possession of weapons, while the other three individuals were arrested for “Failure to Report a Crime.”
The operation was organized and completed by officers from the Saranda Police Commissariat, in cooperation with the Fier Unit of the National Security Force.
The investigation is continuing under the direction of the Prosecutor’s Office, with the aim of fully clarifying the circumstances, identifying the suspected target and determining the legal responsibility of those involved.
The procedural materials were referred to the Prosecutor’s Office at the Saranda Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction for further action.
