OVL-UÇK stated that honoring these units cannot be presented as commemoration as long as Serbia continues to keep state archives closed and conceal evidence of crimes committed during the war in Kosovo.
“Such an action constitutes the institutionalization of denial and the protection of impunity,” the organization said in its response.
According to OVL-UÇK, medals, state decorations and the rewriting of narratives cannot obscure the truth about war crimes.
The organization called on Belgrade to open its military and police archives, while also describing the clarification of the fate of those forcibly disappeared during the war as an essential obligation.
OVL-UÇK stressed that Kosovo will not compromise in its efforts to seek truth and accountability for war crimes.
