Police have stepped up surprise checks in Tirana and several areas of Krujë as part of operations aimed at preventing illegal activities and strengthening road safety.

The Special Operational Force, the Shqiponja Special Force and the Traffic Police were deployed in the operation. Checks were conducted along main roads and in various areas, including Fushë-Krujë, Bubq and Nikël.
The checks focused on people who might be carrying illegal weapons or narcotics, wanted individuals, as well as luxury or armored vehicles and vehicles with illegally tinted windows.
A total of 87 vehicles were inspected and checked, while 118 people underwent verification.
Police identified 34 vehicles with windows tinted in violation of the Road Code and imposed administrative penalties on their drivers.
Twelve vehicles and 16 people were taken in for further checks, while 2 people were arrested in the act.
One of those detained was arrested after a quantity of a substance suspected to be cocaine was found during a search. In the other case, officers seized a bladed weapon, specifically a metal bar, and arrested the person who possessed it.
During the operation, police also discovered an individual who had violated the “House Arrest” security measure. The luxury vehicle he was using was seized by police.
Checks in Tirana and the surrounding areas will continue without interruption, with the aim of cracking down on all legal violations and ensuring public order and safety.
