Today’s meeting in Strasbourg of the Albania-European Union Stabilisation and Association Parliamentary Committee did not produce a joint resolution. The reason was that Democratic Party MPs did not support the final draft in the vote, while the Socialists and MEPs voted in favor.
After the opposition’s vote against it, Prime Minister Rama reacted through a post on social media, where he wrote:

“So, all the MEPs, even someone who came and protested in Albania, voted for Albania together with the MPs of the Socialist Party. Because Albania does not stop. While the MPs of the minority in Albania voted against it and left to go to a protest. Because the Socialist Party does not stop.”
The document proposed by the Parliamentary Committee Secretariat was also supplemented with the European Parliament resolution and the resolution approved by the Albanian Parliament on the EU accession process. According to the Socialists, this was sufficient reason for them not to submit any amendments.
