Four officers of the National Security Unit (FNSH), detained by the Police Oversight Agency (AMP) after Hasan Verracaku left house arrest, have been released by decision of the Court of First Instance in Shkodra.
During the hearing to determine the security measure, the panel imposed on them the measure of “reporting obligation,” allowing them to be investigated while free on the charge of “abuse of office.”

Also under investigation are inspectors Dorjan Hasandoçaj, Gentian Xhanari, Dioniz Hotaj, and employee Ridvan Zefi. According to AMP, they are suspected of not properly carrying out their duty to supervise Verracaku, giving him the opportunity to leave the home where he was staying under the security measure.
Meanwhile, criminal proceedings have been registered against Hasan Verracaku for the offense of “Prisoner leaving the place of stay,” as he is suspected of violating the conditions set by the court.
Verracaku is listed as one of the people under investigation for the serious incident that took place in Velipoja in June 2021, in which four people lost their lives and two others were injured. After the pretrial detention deadlines expired, he had been placed under “house arrest,” while being guarded around the clock by State Police officers.
