According to data on residence and work permits issued by the Croatian authorities, 6,849 citizens of North Macedonia are working in Croatia this year.
The same figures show that in the first five months of this year, Croatia issued a total of 80,780 work and residence permits to citizens from third countries.

The highest number of permits was issued to citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with 14,799, followed by 12,911 workers from Sierra Leone, 12,622 from the Philippines, 11,441 from Nepal and 4,969 from India. Croatia also employs 3,515 workers from Uzbekistan, 2,723 from Kosovo, 1,466 from Egypt and 1,311 from Albania.
The Croatian Chamber of Economy says that most of the foreign workforce is concentrated in tourism, hospitality and construction, although there are also employees in industry, transport, communications and trade. According to them, relatively high wages and favorable working conditions remain the main reasons driving foreign workers to go to Croatia.
