Day 31 of the Civic Revolt Ends, 12 Hours of Protest Against Rama and the Government; 32nd Rally Tomorrow in Front of SPAK

Day 31 of the civic revolt ended with a renewed call for the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama and the removal of his government.

The protest lasted 12 hours, beginning at 10:00 in the morning and continuing until late in the evening. During it, citizens targeted not only the government, but also the opposition.

The rally began in front of the Parliament of Albania, where the strongest clashes with the police were also recorded. Several protesters were taken to the police station, while footage of citizens being dragged along the ground became one of the most talked-about episodes of the day.

Afterward, the protesters moved in front of Police Station No. 1, where they awaited the release of those who had been detained. When they came out, the crowd greeted them with cheers and applause, while describing the police intervention as an attempt to intimidate the movement.

In the afternoon hours, citizens returned once again in front of the Prime Minister’s Office, where organizers and participants delivered strong speeches.

After more than two hours of speeches, the nightly march began. The first stop was once again in front of Parliament, where the incidents had taken place earlier in the day. For several minutes, protesters chanted “Shame, shame!” and “Police of crime!” in reference to the intervention by law enforcement.

The march then passed near the headquarters of the Democratic Party, where chants were heard including “PS-PD, communist whelps,” “Rama in prison, Berisha in prison,” “Albania of the youth, not of the party,” “Albania of Albanians, death to traitors,” and “Fake opposition.”

The evening ended in front of the Prime Minister’s Office, where the afternoon rally had also begun. With red-and-black flags in their hands, the protesters concluded the day with the chants “Rama go away,” “Rama resign,” “New Albania,” and “Your end has come.”

The organizers have announced that the next action will be held tomorrow at 10:00, in front of the Special Prosecution Office (SPAK). They said they will submit the book “The Albanian Files,” signed by the protesters, which they consider evidence for the complaints they intend to file.
