A survey conducted by “Panorama Group” sought to gauge public support for the person citizens would like to see at the head of a transitional government. This demand has been voiced for a month in the nightly protests of thousands of Albanians in the square, where the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama and the formation of a new government are being called for. According to the protest organizers, this government would have a one-year mandate to prepare free and fair elections.
The survey was carried out in several cities across the country, including different age groups. The results show that 80 percent of respondents support SPAK, while 78 percent favor former SPAK chief Altin Dumani as the most likely name to lead such a government. This support is linked to the way some citizens perceive his work in the fight against corruption and in the prosecution of high-level officials.

During the time he led the Special Prosecution Office, Altin Dumani became identified with major investigations into former ministers, ministers and other senior officials, as well as cases linked to organized crime and economic crime. SPAK’s activity during his term was marked by a series of investigations, along with requests for security measures and arrests of public officials.
According to the poll, one of the most significant moments of Dumani’s term was the request submitted to Parliament for authorization of procedures related to former Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku. Respondents see this as an indication of his firm approach to investigating senior officials, underscoring that he ended his term in December 2025 without abandoning the priority of fighting corruption.
From this perspective, Altin Dumani’s supporters associate his public profile with institutional independence, determination in carrying out his duties and confronting corruption, even in circumstances that, according to public statements, were accompanied by pressure and threats.
For the first time since SPAK was created, public opinion saw investigations that reached the highest levels of political power, strengthening the perception that no one was entirely untouchable by the law. For some citizens, Dumani represents institutional independence, resolve and the enforcement of the law without political distinction.
According to that same perception, he shattered the myth of impunity and showed through his dedication that the untouchability of high-profile political figures belongs to the past. Dumani sent the message that an honest man, backed by the force of the law, can bring to justice even officials who have put their hands in citizens’ pockets. His approach set a standard in justice, with the clear idea that “no one will be spared, regardless of the power or position they hold.”
In the view of respondents, he struck a strong blow against both politics and the criminal world. At a time when trust in the political class remains low, figures who come from the justice system are seen as more credible alternatives. For this reason, Altin Dumani is regarded as the man who restored hope and faith in justice, while respondents also want to entrust him with leading a new government that would restore to Albanians the institution of the free vote.
