Debates on Administrative-Territorial Reform, Mazniku to the Opposition: You Spoke and Left, While We Worked

The meeting of the Special Commission on Administrative-Territorial Reform was marked by clashes between the opposition and the majority, while the discussions focused on deadlines, the pace of work, and the results achieved so far.

During the discussion, co-chair Arbjan Mazniku pointed out that the commission is built on the principle of parity between the majority and the opposition, stressing that responsibility for the progress of the process, the work, and the proposals belongs to both sides.

“The lack of results and the time lost have come as a result of systematic obstruction by the opposition. Every product that has been proposed from the technical side has been proposed by the majority in the commission. Responsibility for the agenda, the progress of the work, the products, their typology, and their number in a commission with co-chairs and an 8-to-8 composition is shared. I do not understand why only one side is being asked to account. You asked for parity, and parity also brings responsibility, not just words. You came, you spoke, you left. We came and did some work as well,” Mazniku said.

He further stressed that, in a commission where the sides are represented equally, responsibility for progress and results should be shared among all the actors involved and not charged to only one side.
