In his address at the 13th Plenary Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the South-East European Cooperation Process, held in Sofia, Speaker of Parliament Afrim Gashi highlighted that interparliamentary dialogue, good neighborly relations, and the European future of the region remain decisive elements for the prospects of Southeast Europe.
According to him, in a period marked by geopolitical challenges, the countries of the region must demonstrate responsibility and political maturity, while parliaments, through diplomacy, should strengthen trust and cooperation among themselves.

Gashi stated that North Macedonia remains committed to good neighborly relations, underscoring that integration into the European Union represents a strategic orientation of the state, supported for decades.
He also emphasized that the country has gone through a difficult process, making historic decisions and compromises in support of its European path.
Speaking about integration, Gashi said that North Macedonia has met the criteria and received positive assessments, but has often faced bilateral conditions, which have created a sense of injustice among citizens.
In this context, he called for the EU membership process to proceed on predictable, fair foundations and in line with European criteria, warning that delays undermine trust in the European project.
