Socialist Party MP Sara Mila has reacted to the protest held in recent days to protect the environment and the flamingos in Zvërnec, claiming that the organizers have strayed from the original purpose and are using this cause for political interests.
In a post on social media, she emphasized the fact that only after 22 days of protest was the name of Dritan Goxhaj mentioned as one of the leading figures of this movement.

“For 22 days they refused to put forward a representative. On the 23rd, they chose Dritan Goxhaj: the man who, according to the document published from 1999, when he was asked to stay for the Kosovo war, replied: ‘My head wasn’t smelling it.’ Today, strangely, his head is smelling it to save Albania,” Mila writes.
According to the Socialist MP, after entire weeks of protests presented as “leaderless,” the true political direction of this movement has now become visible, in her view.
“After 22 days of a ‘leaderless protest,’ the mask fell: the spokesperson of ‘New Albania’ is a figure with public rhetoric that is pro-Iran, pro-Hezbollah, and anti-American. Not a political alternative, but a geopolitical caricature,” she writes.
Mila also focused on the language used during the protest, referring to an expression that, according to her, has been heard at the gatherings.
“At the protest I heard them say that ‘there is a place in hell for neutrals in times of turmoil.’ Perhaps the revolutionary leader is exactly such a case. But for those who ignite unrest and sell it as patriotism, surely an entire separate floor must be reserved,” the Socialist Party MP concludes.
Mila’s reaction comes at a time when the protest to protect the environment in the Zvërnec area has sparked broad public debate and political clashes over its representation and aims.
