Feraj: The protests in Albania are citizen self-organization, not an initiative of political parties

Protests against the government in Albania have entered their third week, while citizens’ dissatisfaction continues to be seen on the streets of Tirana. Despite this, political debates over their background remain intense.

Analyst Hysamedin Feraj told “Bota sot” that these protests are not organized by political forces, but arise directly from citizens.

“The protest is the self-organization of citizens, and of no political party,” Feraj said briefly to “Bota sot”.

On the other hand, Albania’s Prime Minister, Edi Rama, recently said that within the Vetëvendosje Movement there are individuals who, according to him, have been involved in what he called a “devils’ brew,” while labeling them “sallahana.”

However, Rama stressed that he does not hold Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti responsible, and asked that he not be involved in this issue.

The protests in Albania began three weeks ago and are continuing with various demands from citizens directed at the institutions and the government.
