Kurti described the newly sworn-in recruits as 515 citizens who had chosen to serve their country, 515 additional rifles for security, and 515 new defenders of freedom and peace.
He told the recruits that their journey begins with the awareness that Kosovo’s freedom was built through the efforts of many generations and the sacrifice of those who gave everything for the country.
The prime minister praised the role of the Kosovo Liberation Army, saying that it was and remains a symbol of the people’s determination not to submit to captivity. According to him, the sacrifice of the nation’s martyrs and fallen heroes obliges society to preserve the historical truth, honor the just liberation war, and take pride in it wherever it may be.
He mentioned Kosovo’s various regions, from the mountains of Drenica to the Towers of Dukagjin, from the White Drin to the Ibër and Sitnica rivers, and from Llapi and Gollak to Anamorava and Karadak, stressing that every region, city, village, hill, and valley preserves memories of resistance, uprising, and the struggle for freedom.
“In this land, freedom is the history of families, the sacrifice of generations, and a responsibility passed down,” Kurti declared.
He emphasized that the army is one of the fundamental pillars of the state and that strengthening it is a duty in creating institutions capable of guaranteeing citizens’ security, protecting sovereignty, and preserving the Republic’s territorial integrity, in accordance with its constitutional and legal mandate.
Kurti also pledged that more than 1 billion euros would be invested in the army.
