Those arrested include two Turkish citizens, one citizen of North Macedonia and two Kosovo citizens.
The five defendants are suspected of participating in or organizing an organized criminal group in connection with the unauthorized purchase, possession, distribution and sale of narcotics and psychotropic substances.
Dren Paca, acting chief prosecutor of the Special Prosecution, said at a press conference yesterday that the operation was the result of a recently launched investigation following information obtained from the Kosovo Intelligence Agency.
The prosecutor handling the case, Atdhe Dema, said the seized narcotics are estimated to be worth around 550,000 euros.
Authorities also confiscated 5,300 euros and 100 dollars in cash, a vehicle, ten mobile phones, a DVR device for security cameras, 15 rounds of ammunition and a cutter during the operation.
Investigators suspect the group transported the narcotics concealed among commercial goods that had arrived from Asian countries in the Middle East.
