Students call for his resignation, Rama: They cannot force me out through street protests! The hands of Iran’s regime are on the boulevard

Despite citizens, students and young people calling for his resignation, Prime Minister Edi Rama is determined not to step down, saying that resignation cannot be imposed through street protests. At a press conference with the EU ambassador, Rama said he “knows everything that was said on the boulevard,” but stressed that he had “not taken note of any idea or programme for Albania.” “In no case can the resignation of a democratically elected prime minister, with a contract with the people, be imposed through street protests. In my case, however, there is another specific factor: this document here,” he said, pointing to the progress report. “Here, the final kilometre of the negotiations is divided into 1,000 metres, and every metre into 100 centimetres. Every centimetre needs the person in charge of the relevant field to do their job, because it is written here in black and white that the negotiations are to be concluded by the end of 2027. This objective will be achieved by focusing on these tasks, not by following threatening chants and agendas that have nothing to do with this mission,” Rama said. Rama once again reiterated his position on the involvement of foreign actors in protests in Albania. “It was not me, nor a representative of our institutions, but one of France’s well-known figures on malign interference in European countries who said explicitly just days ago that Albania has been part of this hybrid war. I did not say that Iran organised the protests, but the hands of Iran’s criminal regime are on the boulevard, and there is evidence,” the prime minister declared.
