In the published letter, Zekaj also addressed the mayor of the Municipality of Peja, expressing concern about the way the institutions had responded and the measures taken to prevent violence against women.
“Dear Mr. Mayor, the killings are apparently not accidental! Now I see whether the institutions contribute to the killing of women. You were informed in time—the meeting with the judge, without concrete action, is worthless!” read the letter published by Kuçi.
In her post, Kuçi also shared this quote: “Hey Tyre, they had turned off the cameras; my brother-in-law attacked me in front of the police, and they did not even react.”
Kuçi also spoke about the judge who, according to her, had ordered Linda to live in the same house as her husband, but two meters apart. She described it as the house where the brother-in-law, mother-in-law and husband had joined forces to stalk and torture Linda and hide her son from her. According to the post, someone was arrested in that house every day and released the next day.
Kuçi added that Linda had complained and written: “AFTER MY KILLING, I DO NOT EXPECT YOU TO RESPOND—but I expect you not to be able to sleep.”
She said that the police and judiciary in Peja knew Linda’s life was in danger every time they left her at the courtyard gates and every time they failed to enable her to enforce the court decision allowing her to meet her son away from that house.
