Citizens interviewed by Alsat acknowledge that internet use should be limited, but stress that it has now become an inseparable part of everyday life.
“Yes, I use it, but not extensively. The children at home use it too. However, excessive use is harmful and is destroying children. They no longer know how to communicate because they spend most of their time browsing the internet, which has become their main source of enjoyment,” one female citizen said.
A male citizen said he rarely uses the internet and prefers activities outside the home. According to him, young people should walk and socialize more, as spending too much time online is driving people apart.
Another citizen said that the internet is also used in his family, but stressed that there are better ways to spend time than staying online for extended periods.
“We use it when necessary,” said a female citizen, who explained that there are no children in her family who use the internet. Asked about the fact that, according to the statistics, nearly 90 percent of citizens use it, she replied that everything depends on the attention given to children.
Data from the State Statistical Office, referring to the first quarter of this year, show that the internet is accessible in 91 percent of households nationwide. According to the same statistics, around 94 percent of the population use the internet for phone calls, while approximately 89 percent use it to exchange messages through online applications./Alsat.mk
