Citizens of Serbia are voting this Sunday in snap parliamentary elections, a contest pitting Aleksandar Vučić’s Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) against the Student List, the movement that emerged from mass protests.
According to the data, more than 6.4 million citizens are eligible to vote, while 18 electoral lists with a total of 2,418 candidates are competing for 250 seats in the National Assembly. Voting is taking place at 8,392 polling stations, 93 of which are located abroad.

These elections also offer a chance for Albanians in the Preševo Valley, who are running on a joint list called the “Albanian Coalition.”
The contest is taking place amid a tense political climate, following months of protests fueled by anger over corruption in Vučić’s government and the collapse of the railway station canopy in Novi Sad, where 16 people lost their lives in November 2024.
The student movement, made up mainly of nonpartisan figures and academics, aims to end the political dominance of Vučić’s camp, which has been in power for more than a decade.
Vučić resigned as president at the end of September. He is seeking the post of prime minister, a position he held from 2014 until he was elected president in 2017. However, the election campaign has been accompanied by concerns that electoral manipulation could occur.
