An operation targeting a group of timber thieves began early this morning. According to Kire Mihailov, the group had long been operating in the Štip region.
The Ministry of the Interior, employees of the public enterprise “Macedonian Forests” and the Forest Police took part in the operation. Several vehicles were seized which, Mihailov said, were being used to transport illegally cut firewood in the region.

The seizures took place at several locations on Plačkovica, where passenger vehicles were transporting large quantities of illegally cut firewood without official stamps.
Announcing that operations of this kind would continue, Mihailov stressed that no region of Macedonia would be left at the mercy of timber thieves.
