According to the announcement, the focus of the reconsideration is on the provisions concerning the jurisdiction and mandate of the Specialist Chambers, as well as the full protection of the constitutional rights of the people being tried at the institution in The Hague.
In her reasoning, the president emphasized the sacrifice and role of the Kosovo Liberation Army and its leaders in the struggle for the country’s freedom and independence.
She also recalled her support for the Declaration of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo of September 28, 2026, concerning the judgment of the Specialist Chambers in The Hague against Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi.
The president reiterated her opposition to any attempt to distort Kosovo’s history, question the liberation character of the war, or equate the people who fought for freedom and survival with the oppressive regime.
The reasoning for the decision also states that Shiroka Pula has held and continues to hold consultations with representatives of the relevant state institutions and entities. The aim is to coordinate institutional and diplomatic actions to document, protect and affirm the historical truth about the Kosovo Liberation War and the role of the KLA, as well as to provide the best possible protection for the rights and interests of its leaders who are being tried before the Specialist Chambers.
