In a statement today, VLEN criticized the Albanian opposition for its rhetoric in Brvenica, calling it divisive. The party said it would not get involved in the DUI’s backroom political deals at the expense of the municipality’s residents.
VLEN said it respected the will expressed by Brvenica’s residents on October 18. It recalled that, immediately after voting ended, its candidate, Jakup Huseini, and the local campaign team congratulated Arkin Jahiji on his victory and expressed their support for him in the second round.

VLEN said it was now up to Arkin Jahiji and his coalition to ensure voters are mobilized for the second round of the local elections. Meanwhile, the party said, the opposition’s rhetoric in recent days has not helped bring people together.
The statement said that inflammatory and divisive language, along with attacks on VLEN’s candidate despite his constructive stance, is intended to achieve the opposite of unity.
VLEN stressed that its voters had backed unity and the Albanian candidate on election night. Ruling out involvement in “dirty games” at the expense of residents, the party warned that dragging Brvenica into political deals—as it said DUI had done in the past—would be a betrayal of its voters and every citizen of Brvenica.
