Speaking from the protest square, Arlind Qori, leader of the Together Movement, commented on the confrontation between the government and the civic and student movement, criticizing Prime Minister Edi Rama’s stance.
According to Qori, the head of government has lost his reason, legitimacy and ability to lead the country. He said threats against young people and their families are no longer working, as Albanians—and young people in particular—can no longer see a present or a future under this system.

He said Rama’s appeals to parents to stop their children from taking part in protests had also failed. Qori stressed that parents had joined the young people because, in his view, they consider Albania unlivable under the influence of corruption, oligarchy and organized crime.
Qori also referred to the prime minister’s recent statement about protesters using trains, calling it a sign that Rama had lost his reason. He said that in a country without trains, the prime minister was trying to stop young people from participating in protests with threats like these.
The leader of the Together Movement said Edi Rama had taken everything from the Albanian people, and that a generation with nothing left to lose and only its future to gain had risen up en masse in protest.
Qori said recent developments showed the failure of traditional political structures and that the country was facing the consequences of corruption and oligarchy. He concluded by calling on all citizens of the Republic of Albania to join the protest, arguing that the old political and oligarchic system was nearing its end.
