“Today we are announcing important news for the domestic economy. Kromberg & Schubert is launching a new investment project that is expected to create 2,000 new jobs over the next four years. It will produce automotive components for German car giant Audi. I do not need to remind you what Audi is or how important it is to the automotive industry,” Mickoski said.

According to the prime minister, the factory in the Zhabeni industrial zone will produce systems for a new Audi model. Planned production capacity is more than 3,000 cable harnesses a day.

Kromberg & Schubert director Gjorgji Trenkovski said the company aims to recruit the 2,000 workers domestically, drawing on Macedonia’s skilled workforce.

“We will contact all available engineers and operators, as well as unemployed people who may want to change jobs. If we cannot fill all the positions, you are right that the quota for foreign workers has been increased, and we will consider that option carefully as well. The decision on the project has already been made: it will be carried out in Macedonia, and we will have those jobs. Let us see through our operational work where the employees will come from,” Trenkovski said.

This will be Kromberg & Schubert’s fourth investment project in the country. Once it is completed, Mickoski expects the total number of employees at the factory to reach 10,000.

The company is also expected to export more than 400 million euros’ worth of goods from its production facilities in the country next year and to offer employees higher-paying jobs.

The prime minister stressed that average wages at the company, especially for highly qualified employees, are more than 80 percent higher than the average in Macedonia.
