According to the authorities, the alleged scenario was intended to cause as many casualties as possible and is being examined as a premeditated conspiracy with terrorist aims. CNN, citing a statement by the attorney general of the United Arab Emirates, reported the initial findings of the investigation.
Authorities claim that the suspect had intended to take control of the aircraft and use it in a suicide attack against the airport terminal.
The official statement said that the alleged plan had been designed to cause the highest possible number of casualties.
However, the case is still in the early stages of the investigation, so the allegations raised by the authorities do not constitute a final judicial conclusion.
According to CNN, the person under investigation has been identified as Hammam Al Hammami. Authorities in the United Arab Emirates are working to clarify the circumstances of the incident, the possible motives and how the attack was allegedly prepared.
