Turkish actress and voice artist Gülsen Tuncer, known to Albanian audiences for her role as “Aunt Arsen” in the famous series “Forbidden Love,” has died at the age of 81.

Tuncer died after battling a brain tumor. The sad news was announced by the Film-San Foundation, where the actress also served as vice president from 2009 to 2011.
The artist’s final farewell will take place on Sunday, September 20, 2026.
Her death has affected Turkey’s artistic community, while several of her colleagues have shared moving messages in tribute to the actress.
Nebahat Çehre expressed her sadness over her loss, recalling the years and beautiful moments they had shared. Selçuk Yöntem and Kerem Alışık also remembered Tuncer in warm words, praising her contribution to the arts.
Who was Gülsen Tuncer?
Born in Adana in 1945, Gülsen Tuncer graduated from the Department of Theatre at the Istanbul Municipal Conservatory, where she was trained by prominent figures of the Turkish stage, including Yıldız Kenter and Ayla Algan.
She began her professional career in 1968 and, over the course of her decades-long career, worked in theatre, cinema, television and dubbing.
She became particularly well known to Albanian audiences for her portrayal of the character Arsen Hanım in the series “Aşk-ı Memnu” (“Forbidden Love”). During her long career, Tuncer also appeared in productions such as “Üç İstanbul,” “Bugünün Saraylısı,” “Çalıkuşu” and “Fazilet Hanım ve Kızları,” leaving behind a significant contribution to Turkish cinema and theatre.
