Some witnesses or alleged victims who took part in proceedings before the Special Court have been granted asylum in countries outside Kosovo. This information is contained in the June 2025 report published by the Office for Victim Participation in The Hague.

The report, prepared by the OVP as part of the Special Court, notes that some Victims Participating in the Proceedings sought and were granted asylum because of fears for their safety in Kosovo. According to the document, another person withdrew from the proceedings due to security concerns, while online and real-life threats also affected other individuals.
In the trial of Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Rexhep Selimi and Jakup Krasniqi, the Prosecution presented a total of 257 witnesses. Of these, 125 testified in court, while the majority were placed under protective measures.
On Wednesday, September 16, the Trial Panel sentenced Thaçi, Veseli, Selimi and Krasniqi to a total of 81 years in prison.
