A secondary school in Rome was the scene of a serious incident this morning after a student allegedly physically assaulted a teacher.

According to preliminary information, the incident took place at Giovanni Verga Secondary School. The student allegedly sprayed pepper spray in the teacher’s face and then struck her with a sharp object.
Following a call to the 112 emergency number, Carabinieri officers from Rome’s Centocelle station went to the school. Emergency medical teams were also dispatched to the scene.
The teacher received medical assistance and was taken to hospital for treatment. She is in a state of shock, while initial information indicates that her life is not in danger.
