After a month of work, the commission established by the Divjaka Municipal Council to draft the report opposing the municipality’s dissolution has completed the document and begun consultations with citizens through public hearings. The first meeting was held in Divjaka, where the hall was filled with interested residents.

The meeting began with debates after several participants requested the presence of the area’s member of parliament and representatives of the group that drafted the territorial reform.
Divjaka Mayor Josif Gorrea presented the report prepared by the commission. The document is expected to be submitted to Parliament to oppose the plan calling for Divjaka to be merged with Lushnja. In his speech, Gorrea listed the arguments that, in his view, provide a strong basis for rejecting the merger.
Deputy Chair of the Municipal Council and opposition representative Eugen Verdho declared that the positions expressed by citizens would be included in the commission’s material, with the aim of defending Divjaka’s status as a municipality.
The participants who spoke expressed opposition to the merger of Divjaka Municipality. They also called for support for the protest that has continued for 45 days, urging the administration, farmers and businesses to join it as well.
Public hearings will continue over the coming days in the administrative units as well.
