Residents of Divjaka are continuing their protest against the Socialist Party’s plan to dissolve their municipality and place it under the administration of Lushnje. According to them, the area’s identity, history and demographic composition show that Divjaka meets the criteria better than several other municipalities that are not included in this reform.

For 45 consecutive days, citizens have gathered in the square to oppose the initiative. Although the number of protesters is limited, they say they will fight to the end, regardless of Prime Minister Rama’s decision to merge Divjaka with Lushnje.
After the protest, a march was also held through the city’s streets on the 45th evening. Participants chanted “Divjaka municipality,” along with other slogans against the territorial reform.
On Monday at 16:00, the committee of the Divjaka municipal council and representatives of the municipality will hold an expanded meeting with citizens to discuss the territorial reform. The municipal council voted against the reform at the beginning of August, during an extraordinary meeting called to address the issue.
Over the coming days, the data and demands of the residents of Divjaka and the administrative units will be sent to Parliament and the Mazniku commission.
