Following the election of deputy speakers from the LDK and the communities, Kosovo’s Assembly has been considered constituted.

Kujtim Shala, a representative of the LDK, was elected to the post with 75 votes. Meanwhile, after eight unsuccessful attempts by the Serbian List, Serbian MP Tanja Vujoviq was also elected deputy speaker, with the support of the LVV and several LDK lawmakers.
The Democratic Party of Kosovo was absent from the session after earlier deciding to withdraw Vlora Çitaku’s candidacy for the post of deputy speaker.
Former Constitutional Court member Kadri Kryeziu said the court’s decision suggests that the Assembly can now be considered constituted.
In a statement to “Bota sot,” Kryeziu explained that deputy speakers have administrative responsibilities and do not exercise decision-making powers. According to him, decision-making authority belongs to the Assembly speaker.
He said that, in this case, the political entity has not submitted a candidate for the time being, while the main constitutional issue addressed a year ago concerned the minorities’ inability to exercise a veto.
However, PDK lawmaker Përparim Gruda said that the Assembly cannot be considered constituted until the election of all deputy speakers has been completed. He stressed that the PDK representative for the post has still not been elected.
