Under the slogan “Dimal remains Dimal. Citizens’ voices must be heard,” residents gathered this evening in the town’s central square. They called on the government not to change the status of Dimal Municipality.
The protesters argue that Dimal has considerable geographical scope and high economic potential. For this reason, they are calling on Rama not to merge the municipality with Berat, reports journalist Eneida Petova.
According to residents, a merger of Dimal with Berat would have negative consequences both for citizens’ access to necessary services and for the economic development of the municipality.
Residents stress that agricultural products and greenhouses in the villages of Kutalli, Samaticë, Drenovicë, Cukalat, Goriçan and others have been supplying international markets for years.
