Hoti: We did not support LDK’s entry into the government, but sought an agreement on the president

Former prime minister and LDK MP Avdullah Hoti said that he, together with several other party members, had opposed the LDK’s participation in the government. However, according to him, they had supported reaching a political agreement that would secure the country’s institutions and give the LDK the right to nominate the candidate for president.

During the “Debat Plus” program, Hoti said that this demand was not fulfilled because the LDK chairman had informed them that no agreement had been reached.

“My position, along with that of several others, was against the LDK’s participation in the government, but we fully supported an agreement that would establish the country’s institutions and determine the LDK’s candidate for president. This process did not move forward, while the party leader informed us that there was no agreement,” Hoti said.

Following the failure of these efforts, the LDK withdrew from the meetings and called on the Vetëvendosje Movement to initiate procedures for forming the institutions.

Hoti explained that, following the second meeting and the interruption of the dialogue, the LDK’s position was that the LVV should convene the constitutive session, constitute the Assembly and form the government, since it had the necessary votes to create a majority. He said that talks resumed several days later.
