With just one day remaining before the deadline for the law on the Specialist Court expires, Arbërie Nagavci, head of the Vetëvendosje parliamentary group, commented on the law’s submission to the Presidency.
The Law on the Specialist Chambers was sent to President Justina Shiroka-Pula on October 15. Article 80 of Kosovo’s Constitution gives the president eight days to promulgate a law or return it to the Assembly for reconsideration. If she takes no action during this period, the law is considered promulgated without requiring her signature.

Speaking before the Assembly session, Nagavci emphasized that VV had insisted the processing of this important law should not be rushed, precisely to prevent situations like this.
She said the case could, unfortunately, serve as an example of the consequences of exploiting issues of state and strategic interest for party gain. She linked this to Vetëvendosje’s insistence that the law not be rushed.
Nagavci also recalled the practice of the previous legislature, when former president Vjosa Osmani returned two laws passed by the Assembly. To her knowledge, neither of those laws has yet been approved, and both have been sent back to square one.
Regarding President Shiroka-Pula’s position, Nagavci said she was confident the president would give the draft law the careful consideration it deserves and make the right decision.
Referring to media reports, she also noted that the president was at the beginning of her term and in the process of assembling her team, alongside her other commitments.
