Who is calling for war in Kosovo?” Dosti sharply criticizes political statements

Publicist and analyst Adriatik Riza Dosti has reacted in strong terms to statements by several politicians about the possibility of former KLA leaders being convicted.

In a written statement, Dosti challenges the rhetoric that, in his view, is increasing tensions and suggesting that violence could return to Kosovo if Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli and others were to face an unfavorable verdict.

He names several lawmakers and political figures whom he accuses of using aggressive and threatening language in connection with the issue.

“There are several crazy, aggressive but also cowardly lawmakers who are making such calls, saying that if The Hague convicts ‘our KLA fighters,’ all of Kosovo will go up in flames,” Dosti writes.

The analyst also calls it irresponsible that some statements attribute responsibility to NATO for developments that could follow in Kosovo.

In his reaction, Dosti focuses on Ganimete Musliu, Isa Mustafa, Sami Lushtaku and Kujtim Shala, commenting on their positions and statements in the political debate.

According to him, some lawmakers from the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) and the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) have increased their warnings about “war,” while several representatives of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) have appeared more measured in their statements.

“Either Hashim is released, or we set Kosovo on fire,” Dosti writes, mocking the way this issue is being articulated by the political establishment, in his view.

He stresses that Kosovo must not be turned into a space for conflict and that using weapons against institutions or the constitutional order would mean confronting Kosovo itself and its citizens.

“Who will you fight and against whom… against Kosovo and its people… against America, NATO, KFOR, the EU, the European Parliament and The Hague?” he writes.

Dosti also criticizes opposition parties for their political performance, saying that the citizens of Kosovo have given them their answer through the vote.

In conclusion, he warns that any attempt to act against Kosovo will meet resistance and calls on politicians not to use the KLA and its sacrifice as part of their political rhetoric.

“Therefore, keep your dirty hands away from the honor and glory of Kosovo and the KLA, in whose name you have spoken and acted until today,” Dosti concludes.
