Who Is Bekim Bulica, the “Shadow Owner” of “Principote” in Ksamil?!

A serious incident was recorded in the early hours of Tuesday in Ksamil, where a young Portuguese man lost his life after being stabbed several times. A 29-year-old man from Has, Sokrat Vata, who worked as a security guard at the “Principote” premises, was arrested in connection with the incident.

Following the crime, police expanded their investigation in several directions. In addition to Vata, two Turkish nationals were arrested on suspicion of helping him flee the scene. Police officer Moisid Matushaj was also taken into custody. He is suspected of helping his friend and colleague—who allegedly worked alongside him as a security guard—leave the scene.

Meanwhile, Bekim Bulica has also been declared wanted. He is reportedly linked to the structure of “Principote”, the luxury resort that, according to business documents, is registered in the name of a female relative of his.

Bekim Bulica’s name is not unfamiliar to the crime pages in Albania, and beyond. Before his name became associated with businesses in Ksamil, Bulica had faced justice over an incident in Kukës. In 2021, he was arrested in France after being placed on an international wanted list by the Albanian authorities.

According to a police statement published at the time, the Kukës Court had imposed the measure of “detention in prison” on him for the criminal offenses of “Threatening” and “Illegal possession of firearms and combat ammunition”, in connection with a September 2019 incident in which shots were fired at the vehicle of a citizen identified by the initials F. C. Bulica was apprehended in France and extradited to Albania in February 2021.

But his case did not end there. In August 2021, Bekim Bulica’s name was also mentioned in an investigation into an alleged escape plan from Prison “313” in Tirana. According to reports published at the time, Bulica was one of the inmates being investigated on suspicion of having knowledge of the escape plan involving Arbër Çekaj and Fatmir Pjetri.

Another episode in which his name appeared in the media was linked to a violent incident in Tirana in 2023, when police reported a confrontation and the assault of a police officer and his brother. At the time, one of those arrested was Blerim Bulica, while Bekim Bulica and other individuals were declared wanted. His name had also previously been widely mentioned by the French media in connection with investigations into a suspected Albanian network involved in drug trafficking, money laundering and organized crime.

Meanwhile, in Ksamil, Bulica would appear in another role—as the businessman linked to one of the area’s best-known tourism establishments.

“Principote & Tulum Resto Lounge”, located opposite the Three Islands of Ksamil, is reportedly linked to the company “TORTUGA BAY”, which was registered in January 2022. Commercial registry data show that the company has initial capital of 100,000 lek, while its registered owner and administrator is Kade Bulica, who holds 100% of the shares. Its stated business activities include a café-bar, restaurant, hotel, beach maintenance, club and parking.

Thus, in the official business documents, Bekim Bulica’s name does not appear as the company’s direct owner. Nevertheless, he has been mentioned in media reports as a person linked to the resort’s activities and structure, while police have now declared him wanted as part of the investigation into Tuesday’s serious incident.

This is precisely one of the issues investigators are expected to clarify: what role Bulica played in the structure of “Principote”, what happened on the resort’s premises before and after the fatal conflict, and whether he has any knowledge of how the suspected perpetrator fled the scene. /newsbomb.al/
