According to official information from the Hydrometeorological Affairs Directorate (DPHM), Friday will be characterized by mostly clear weather. Light to moderate cloudiness and a light northerly airflow are forecast. The morning will bring cooler and more tolerable temperatures, but during the afternoon hours the scorching features of the season are expected to return.
The range of maximum temperatures nationwide will stretch from 30 to 37 degrees Celsius. For the city of Skopje, forecasters expect clear weather, a weak northerly wind, and a high near 35 degrees.
Meteorology specialists emphasize that this cooling interval will not last. Starting Tuesday, the country will be affected by another hot air mass. Approaching midweek, the capital will record temperatures of 35 to 38 degrees Celsius, while the heat index may exceed 40 degrees. Meanwhile, in traditionally hotter areas, the thermometer is expected to approach or even surpass the 40-degree Celsius mark.
The most critical part of the day remains between 11:00 and 17:00. Health institutions appeal for increased caution during this time window, advising the elderly, chronically ill, children, and pregnant women to limit prolonged exposure in unprotected areas.
Expert recommendations include continuous water consumption, preferring light-colored clothing, and avoiding any physical exertion during the peak heat.
If this trend is confirmed, North Macedonia will continue to be in the grip of an intense heatwave for this week as well, with no significant rainfall and a very high number of sunshine hours./INA/
