US Strikes Iran Again as Drones Are Shot Down Over Kuwait and Tehran Threatens Retaliation

The confrontation between the United States and Iran is escalating simultaneously on several fronts, entering an even more dangerous phase. For the 12th consecutive night, US forces attacked Iranian military targets, according to US Central Command.

Iranian state media reported that US missiles struck the cities of Ramshir and Ahvaz in the country’s southwest, as well as the coastal province of Bushehr. Tensions have also spread to the Red Sea, the Persian Gulf and Kuwait.

In the Red Sea, an oil tanker owned by a Saudi company was hit. The incident occurred after the Iran-backed Houthi rebels claimed responsibility for attacks on ships in this strategic corridor and threatened to blockade Saudi ports on the Red Sea.

Meanwhile, the International Chamber of Shipping confirmed that, following the declaration of a naval blockade against Saudi Arabia, the Houthi rebels have begun issuing radio warnings to ships sailing in the region.

The situation in Kuwait also remains tense. The country’s military said its air defense systems intervened to shoot down hostile drones after several days of Iranian attacks against Kuwait.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that any strike on Iranian infrastructure would be met with an equal response. US President Donald Trump responded with a direct threat against Tehran, saying that for every attack on ships in the Strait of Hormuz, the US would destroy an Iranian bridge or power plant.

The escalation was immediately reflected in international markets, pushing oil prices to their highest levels in recent weeks. Brent crude briefly rose above $95 a barrel, its highest level in nearly six weeks, while US crude gained nearly 3 percent.
