The embassy community in Albania paused at 8:46 a.m., the exact moment the first plane struck the North Tower of the World Trade Center in New York.
“Twenty-five years ago, at 8:46 in the morning in New York, the first plane hit the North Tower,” the message published by the embassy stated.
The memorial ceremony was dedicated to all the victims in New York, Virginia, and Pennsylvania, including three Albanian-Americans.
The Chargé d’Affaires of the U.S. Embassy in Tirana, Nancy VanHorn, said that the passage of a quarter century has not dimmed the memory of those who lost their lives.
“We remember every life lost. We honor the emergency service workers who faced danger and the families who have carried this pain for a quarter century,” VanHorn said.
