In a social media post, the US Embassy commemorated the 25th anniversary of the terrorist attack on the Twin Towers in the United States, in which around 3,000 people lost their lives.
The embassy wrote that it honors the lives lost during the attack that shook the world, as well as American resilience.

“We honor the lives lost, the heroes who emerged in New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia, and the resilience of the American spirit,” the embassy wrote.
The September 11, 2001, attack was coordinated by the extremist group al-Qaeda against the United States of America, killing 2,977 people and forever changing modern world history.
Nineteen al-Qaeda terrorists hijacked four passenger planes, two of which crashed into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, causing both towers to collapse.
A third plane crashed into the Pentagon, just outside Washington. The fourth plane crashed in Pennsylvania after the crew and passengers attacked the terrorists on board, preventing it from striking another target believed to have been the White House.
