According to a preliminary assessment by the Israeli military (IDF), Iranian ballistic missiles targeting the Jordanian city of Aqaba were intercepted in flight by US air defense systems.
Israeli authorities report that their own defenses, including the Iron Dome system, were also activated during this operation to eliminate any potential missile fragments that risked hitting Eilat, an Israeli city near the Red Sea.

Residents of the Israeli Red Sea area heard powerful explosions, while images of smoke trails in the sky, left from the interceptions, circulate on social media.
Despite these explosions, warning sirens did not sound in Eilat because, according to preliminary assessments, the missile parts were destroyed before they became an immediate threat to residents.
So far, no injuries or material damage have been reported from this incident.
Earlier, the IDF had warned that missiles targeting Aqaba could penetrate Israeli airspace, heightening concerns about an escalation in the Red Sea area.
