A stabbing near the Acropolis in Athens left two American tourists injured on Tuesday morning.

According to Top Channel correspondent Artur Bibe, the assailant is suspected of having suffered from mental health problems.
The assailant was detained by law enforcement officers stationed in the area. One of the tourists suffered serious injuries but is out of danger, while the other sustained a minor injury to the hand. Both are receiving treatment in hospital.
The attack is the first incident of its kind recorded in years in Greece’s most visited area. The Acropolis is visited by 15-20,000 tourists every day, while the area surrounding the monument is a world-renowned tourist attraction.
